ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

In their presentments on Wednesday, the Dougherty County Grand Jury lectured city, county and state government officials, for not listening to previous grand jury recommendations.

The current Grand Jury strongly recommended that the city and county governments move rapidly to consolidate; saying that it is hurting law enforcement, and wasting taxpayers' money.

"There is also a duplication of local governmental administrative functions that can be more cost effectively handled by consolidation," said Grand Jury Deputy Foreman Shayna Greene.

The Grand Jury said previous Grand Jury recommendations have been grossly ignored by government officials, and said it was important to the quality of life in Dougherty County to heed them.
