ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

Bow season begins on Saturday, September 10, 2016, in Georgia.

But before the season starts, Georgia’s Department of Natural Resources wants hunters to aware of a few rules.

Remember, to hunt deer in Georgia, hunters must have a valid hunting license and a big game license.

If you’re hunting in a Wildlife Management Area, you’ll need that license as well.

Also, keep in mind the limitations.

Hunters are allowed a limit of 10 antlerless deer and 2 antlered deer.

Those who kill the deer must record their harvest through a new system called Georgia Game Check within 72 hours.

You can download the app on your smartphone and record your kills there or write it down on paper and record it online or by calling 1-800-366-2661.

Georgia Game Check is mandatory for all hunters.

The season only begins this Saturday for archery hunters. Those with firearms can begin hunting on Saturday, October 22, 2016.

The season finishes on Sunday, January 8, 2017.
