ALBANY, GA (WALB) - For the first time, the Boys and girls club of Albany is hosting a basketball league.
6th through 12th graders are encouraged to show up at the North Jefferson Street gym Saturday.
There will be a player evaluation and draft for boys and girls.
Club leaders say the new league is part of their mission to provide quality programs for kids.
"That's not limited to after school and it's not limited to academics," said Boys and Girls Club of Albany director of program Jacqueline Robinson. "We want to make sure our young people have an opportunity to run, to have that social recreation and just learn how to be good citizens, great sportsmen."
Evaluation runs from 11 am to 1 pm Saturday.
Registration for players to take part in the Fall league is $25 dollars.
