ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

The Red Cross responded to the storm in our area.

The organization set up five shelters in Georgia last night and housed 150 people.

"They were thankful you know everybody who needs to leave their home that's what we do we try to help people find somewhere to go in that immediate aftermath and to be safe," said Red Cross Southwest Georgia Interim Executive Director Katie Hinman.

85 Georgia Red Crossers, mostly volunteers, are working on the disaster response operation.

That's in addition to still supporting flood relief in Louisiana and responding to more than 20 fires in the last two days.
