TIFT CO., GA (WALB) - Some Tift County Schools are still looking for parents to get involved in new school governance teams.
As part of the new charter system, each school will have its own mini school board.
Each will be made up of the school principal, two teachers, community members, one other school employee and two parents.
The election process for parents who want to be on the board will start in the next few weeks.
"This is another way that parents can get involved outside of the classroom and have a direct impact on the decisions that are being made right there at their child's school. So it's going to be a great way for them to be involved and also know exactly what is going on with their child," said Tift County Schools Director of Communications Stacey Beckham.
Anyone interested in joining their child's school governance team can contact the school principal.
