Funeral arrangements made for student killed in I-75 crash

LOWNDES CO., GA (WALB) - Funeral services have been set for a young Lowndes County teen who was killed in a bus crash Monday.

Rebecca Hall, 15, died at South Georgia Medical Center after a tractor trailer collided with a Lowndes County bus on I-75.

Several other students were injured and two are still in the hospital for their injuries.

Her funeral will be held Friday at The Paulk Funeral Home Chapel in Fitzgerald at 11 a.m.

Her family is inviting those who knew Rebecca to attend.

Visitation will be Thursday from 6-8 p.m. at Paulk Funeral Home in Fitzgerald.

Tuesday, a trooper with the Georgia State Patrol said they expect charges to be filed in the deadly crash.

Lawyers from the company that owns the truck involved in that crash released a statement about the incident:

We at CR Transport are heartbroken and we extend our deepest sympathies to all who have been impacted by the horrible accident yesterday on I-75 involving a school bus transporting Lowndes High School students. Our thoughts and prayers are with Ms. Hall's family, the children who were injured and their families, and the entire Lowndes County community. We are very thankful for the first responders for their incredible work and for everyone else who provided aid and comfort at the scene of the accident. We are and will continue to fully cooperate with the authorities in their investigation. We will not be issuing any further public comment until the investigation is completed.

A fundraiser is being held at Lowndes High School on Saturday, September 17 for the families affected by the crash.

The fundraiser is a car and bike show that's being sponsored by Universal Car Club and Street Sweepers CC.

Registration for the show begins at 10 a.m., judging will be from 1-2 p.m. and awards will be given out at 3:30.

Show entry is $20 and gate entry per car is $5, with all proceeds that day going to the families.
