AMERICUS, GA (WALB) -

The city of Americus is accepting nominations for its 2016 Walk of Fame.

Every other year the city sponsors the program to highlight residents who have made significant contributions to the community.

Honorees will have their handprints and a bronze plaque of their achievements cemented in front of the historic Rylander Theatre.

"A lot of times some people don't get recognized for their contributions and to let them know that their hometown appreciates their efforts," said Americus Human Resources Sr. Admin Assistant Erica Johnson.

Residents have until Wednesday at 4 p.m. to submit nominations.
