VSU will no longer host Governor's Honors Program

VALDOSTA, GA (WALB) - Georgia's Governor's Honors Program that has been hosted at Valdosta State University for several years will not return to the school in Summer 2017.

Berry College in Rome will host the program.

Valdosta State University's interim president Kelli Brown released a statement on changes for the program.

"We will forever be proud of our 32-year partnership with the Governor's Honors Program, and we wish the next hosting university nothing but the best in continuing the tradition of serving these young scholars. This is an exciting time for everyone at VSU as we look forward to developing a different type of challenging and enriching educational opportunity — one focused on serving our regional students and helping them realize their potential as the next generation of global thinkers, innovators, and leaders — next summer."

The Governor's Honors Program is a summer residential program for rising high school juniors and seniors.
