MOULTRIE, GA (WALB) -

The city of Moultrie is working on the first of many improvements to its downtown square.

Moultrie's first "Pocket Park" be located on land donated by Southwest Georgia Bank at the corner of 1st Street and 2nd Avenue.

The Downtown Moultrie Tomorrow Enhancement Committee is working closely with the Main Street Program to provide lasting enhancements to the town.

"This pocket park will be something that will be here for generations.  My kids will be able to use it, and their kids will be able to use it. So, it's something we'll all be able to visibly see and enjoy," said Main Street Director Amy Johnson.

Over the next three years, the plan is to implement other improvements such as another park, a downtown welcome center, downtown security system, and better parking.
