ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Senator Johnny Isakson discussed the mission and economic importance of the Marine Corps Logistics Base on Monday.
Isakson was joined by Congressmen Sanford Bishop and Austin Scott as a part of a three day military affairs study committee tour.
"We gotta make sure that our bases are well positioned to be adaptable to adjust and accommodate whatever the future missions of the departments might be," said Bishop.
They discussed the needs and challenges of the past, the future of MCLB and how to support the base.
"But you never can take it too much for granted, you're going to always have those bases, make sure you know what their needs are, that you're cooperating with the local government and the military bases to see that the base gets what it needs. And just be aware of the challenges coming forward," said Isakson.
On Tuesday, the tour will be in Columbus discussing the Fort Benning Army Base.
