PELHAM, GA (WALB) - A Pelham city worker drove up to a terrifying sight Friday afternoon.
Elijah Haywood with the Public Works Department said he found a four and a half foot-long rattlesnake on Grady Street.
Elijah Haywood said he is no stranger to snakes.
He has encountered many on the job.
But he said this one was the biggest he's seen yet.
"I was in the work truck. I ran it over, and then I backed over it, and hit it again," he said. "I picked it up and put it in the back of the truck. When I got to the shop, I showed it to my boss."
Haywood's supervisor Mario Webb said, "We have people from Game Management going to come down this week to assess the area, and see if there's something else we need to do to keep it down, and no one else gets harmed or anything."
Haywood said he made sure the snake was dead so it would not harm the kids living next door.
