THOMASVILLE, GA (WALB) -

A rivalry reborn, one that many said was definitely missed in Thomasville.

"Most of these kids the last time they actually played a game against them was their ninth grade year so it's exciting," said Bill Shaver, Thomas County Central Head Coach.

The history of this rivalry game with the Thomasville Bulldogs and Thomas County Yellow Jackets goes way back.

This year they have the chance to be a part of history.

"You know coach if we can win this game we can win the all time series which has never happened," said Shaver

"It's a thrill, I'm definitely ready," said Reid Ansley, Senior TCC.

The two teams have not played each other in three seasons and the series record is tied with 24 wins each.

"I was very excited, its one of the biggest ones on the schedule," Said Tori Sapp, Senior Thomasville High.

The goal is always to win on either side and have bragging rights for that year but for this game it just goes way deeper.

"I said look you're supposed to say as a coach that you're still 1-0 or 0-1 after you get done with this game and it counts the same as far as standings go but you'd be remiss to think that this game isn't a little bit extra because these guys are going to grow up with the central players for the rest of their lives," said Zach Grage, Thomasville Head Coach.

Face Painting, bands playing, and a pep rally all took place on Friday to get the fans and the players ready for kickoff.
