Two agencies presented with funds to buy tracking devices

ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

Community partners in Albany are working to raise money to back the blue. 

Gieryics Automotive, Wild Side Running and WSRA 1250 partnered to host the Back the Blue 5k last month. 

Thursday, organizers presented more than $6,000 to the Albany Police Department and Lee County Sheriff's office. 

The money will help buy tracking devices for Project Lifesaver which helps rescue those with cognitive disabilities or high-risk wanderers. 

"Project Lifesaver is designed to be a blessing and actually save lives for people in our community so we are so grateful to those who helped us, those who sponsored and those who ran," said Livingston Fulton of WSRA.

The money will help purchase 16 bands between the two agencies.
