DOUGHERTY CO., GA (WALB) -

Cosmetology students in the Dougherty County School System will be getting a new lab.

A cosmetology program has been offered to high school students in the past. Now, the college and career performance learning center will add a cosmetology program for all students.

On Wednesday, the school board approved construction of the lab.

Students will be able to go directly from high school and take the state test.

"We have a lot of students who are very talented. Now they will be able to use that talent to get the certification that they need to start their own business," said DCSS CTAE Coordinator Kendra Huff.

Construction will start within the next 10 days in a former welding lab.
