Thomas University leaders are trying to break through cultural barriers by giving a few pointers to students a faculty about different cultures.

The "TU Talk" series teaches members of the community about diversity and different cultural practices.

Tuesday's lesson focused on Writing and classroom practices in other cultures.

"The preferences, the cultural preferences that one group of students might have for instance in America we like students to write very literally. We want them to use a thesis statement and then follow that through their essays. But students coming from other cultures don't write that way or think that way, its not the way they have been taught."said Robin Pondedepaola, Assistant Professor of learning and literacy.
