DOUGHERTY CO., GA (WALB) - Two local companies are making a big impact in Albany's economic development.
That is why they are getting $800,000 in a grants from the the city's job investment fund.
The Albany Dougherty Economic Development Commission presented the grant applications to the long term financial planning committee last week.
The criteria to apply for the fund is 100 new jobs or 10 million dollars of investments.
Mars Chocolate is investing over $10 million in a new production line and Webstaurant is investing over $200 million and hiring more than 200 employees in the next three years.
"More jobs for Albany and Dougherty County, a new investment in the community and being able to use the money that is there in the job investment pool will help move the community forward," said EDC President Justin Strickland.
The city commission will give give the grant final approval next month.
