ALBANY, GA (WALB) - On Monday, a man sentenced eight years after the violent armed robbery of a Northwest Albany store.
Hinson Cook was given a 20 year total sentence for robbing the Shoe Station on Dawson road with a sawed off shotgun on March 24th, 2008.
Cook will also have to pay $3,199 in restitution.
Prosecutors said that security guard Freddie Green was in on the robbery and testified against Cook.
Dougherty DA Greg Edwards explained why it took so long to get justice.
"There were a number of issues that happened in this particular case. One of the issues involved the case being appealed, while we were getting ready to go to trial, on an earlier issue. So a combination of those factors caused some witness issues," said Edwards.
Cook dropped down out of the ceiling and into the store with the shotgun.
He will serve ten years in prison, and the remaining ten on probation.
