Saturday, August 20, 2016, is National Honey Bee Day.
In honor of the bees, the Jimmy Carter National Historic Site is hosting several programs on Saturday.
Beekeepers will be on hand to discuss beekeeping.
Participants will also have the chance to sample and purchase honey from local vendors.
“Honey is very good for allergies. So, if you have an allergy, come and get some local honey and that will help you out with that as well,” Park Ranger Randy Dillard said.
The Carters maintained over 20 hives while living on the property.
National Honey Bee Day will take place at the Jimmy Carter Boyhood Farm from 11:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m.
The event is free to the public.
