FITZGERALD, GA (WALB) - Officials have identified the man shot outside of his home in the 500 block of East Ohoopee Street at 9:36 Thursday night.
In a release from the GBI, the man was identified as Michael Moore, 26.
His wife told officers three people knocked on their door.
After her husband went outside to talk to them, she heard a gunshot and her husband stumbled back inside and died.
Lorine Fuller lives right across the street from Moore's home.
Fuller said Moore was an outgoing guy, a friend of her son, and a father of two.
"It's terrible," she said. "And those kids. They get on the bus with my grandkids in the morning. So, it's terrible. It's terrible."
She said she woke up to police cars and lights.
"I had seen the police over there, so automatically I knew that it was across the street," Fuller said. "But I didn't know it was a murder."
Fuller said she's scared about the future of her hometown.
"It needs to stop. It's such a small town and a nice town, but crime is just coming up too much," Fuller said.
The investigation is ongoing, and no suspects have been identified at this time.
"It is scary, it is. Now I'm wondering what's going to happen next. What's going to happen next?" she asked.
