SYLVESTER, GA (WALB) - 33 economic development leaders from 21 south Georgia counties kicked off a new program Thursday afternoon that they hope will lead to new jobs.
The eight month leadership experience is part of Locate South Georgia, an effort to get leaders throughout the region to work together to improve the economy for the entire area.
"We've got the workforce. We've got the assets. We've got the land. We've got the buildings, and we just want to get the word out there that we're the place to come," said Sylvester Worth County Chamber President Karen Rackley.
The leaders will get training during six more sessions before they graduate from the program in March.
