LEESBURG, GA (WALB) - South Georgia bikers rode to Eastman Thursday for the funeral of a police officer gunned down there Saturday.

GBI agents say Royheem Deeds, 24, shot and killed Tim Smith, 31.

Riders with the American Legion and Blue Knights met in Leesburg before riding to Officer Smith's funeral.

They said the day was all about coming together for the men and women who put their lives on the line for our safety.

"The law enforcement officers are being singled out and picked out, and technically assassinated," said American Legion Riders Post 335 Director Paul Murray.  "And being drawn out like this officer was, and throughout the country, it's an atrocity. We need to support them."

Murray and the riders attended Smith's funeral at 2 p.m.

They also presented a check to Smith's family.
