CORDELE, GA (WALB) -

The Southern Harvest Insurance Agency in Cordele was the scene of an investigation Thursday morning, after questionable business practices.

The company’s headquarters is in Cordele, and the state Insurance Commissioner's spokesman says they are focusing their investigation on two offices in that city.

"We've received complaints and we are here following up on those complaints. We are conducting a search warrant and it is an active investigation and basically that is all i can tell you but we are here based on complaints," said Sherry Mowell of the State Insurance Commissioner's Office.

The agency was shut down and the employees have been sent home while agents are collecting records and computers.

Officials said the office will be able to reopen after the investigation wraps up, but they don't know how long that will take.

Anyone with questions or concerns can call 800-656-2298.
