AMERICUS, GA (WALB) -

Some young south Georgia swimmers are watching the Olympics with particular interest.

The Americus Blue Tide trains young swimmers.

Former team member Angel Myers McGuire won six Olympic medals in the 1990s.

Head Coach Tim DeMott develops a culture of self-discipline and delayed gratification, but he said it's most important for the young swimmers to have fun.

"To compete at a high level and especially all the way to the Olympics, and you can't do that by yourself. You have to have the emotional support," said Blue Tide Head Coach Tim DeMott.

Blue Tide offers free tryouts for a week for kids starting at age 4 and up to adults.

To learn how you can register, here's Blue Tide's website.
