Bainbridge animal shelter holds pet photo contest

"It's really great, we have about 48 who have entered so far and what's even more exciting for us is that about half of them are ex-shelter animals from this shelter," said Ashley White, Staff Member. BAINBRIDGE, GA (WALB) -

The Bainbridge - Decatur County Humane Society is raising funds for a new facility in a creative way.

The shelter is holding a pet photo contest for it's new calendar.

The pet that receives the most votes overall will be featured on the cover of the 2017 calendar.

The top 12 winners will be featured on one month of the calendar.

"It's really great, we have about 48 who have entered so far and what's even more exciting for us is that about half of them are ex-shelter animals from this shelter," said Ashley White, Staff Member.

The shelter says it's building is not built to hold all of the animals that are brought in every month.

    An Albany nonprofit is working to address underage drinking.  South Georgia Starz Academy has gotten a mental block grant, through the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Administration or SAMHSA.
