ALBANY, GA (WALB) - We are what we eat, and a new workshop in Albany is working to offer some business advice to the farmers who grow the food we consume.
UGA Extension launched the Journeyman Farmer program today. Small and beginning farmers learned the business side of agriculture to help them earn a good living. The crash course covered topics such as record keeping, risk management, marketing, and programs available to small farmers.
"Just looking at it from the business side is very, very important because although farming is a skill set, the business side is essential if you're going to make it profitable," said Charlene Glover, Healthy Living Farms CEO.
If you missed today's workshop, there's still an opportunity to brush up on business planning.
There are four more sessions set for January, in the Candy Room on Pine Avenue. To sign up, call 229-436-7216.
