ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

With the severe flooding in Louisiana affecting thousands of people and cars,  South Georgia auto experts warn some of those flooded cars could end up for sale in your neighborhood.

Car experts say historically after massive flooding events, crooks will take cars that have been flooded and sell them to unsuspecting buyers in other parts of the country.

Those cars can develop major problems down the road,.so experts warn you about bargain deals too good to be true.

Premier Autoworks Owner James Stalvey said "Try to find out where any potential vehicle you are looking to purchase came from originally.  Be on the lookout for unusual odors. Carpet discolorization.  Any water puddling in places where it typically wouldn't."

Stalvey says flooded cars usually experience electronics, computer, and rust problems, and potential buyers should consider buying a Carfax report on any vehicle they consider purchasing in coming months.
