Layoffs begin at Thomasville Caterpillar plant

THOMASVILLE, GA (WALB) - Caterpillar started it's first phase of layoffs in South Georgia.

The company announced earlier this year that approximately 200 jobs would be impacted at the plant in Thomasville.

Friday was the first round of layoffs.

The Thomasville plant is among four others in the US that the company is closing.

The plant is expected to be closed completely by the end of the year.
