ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Women and men with dreams of going to beauty school can earn one of 15 scholarships.
The Albany Beauty Academy is offering $3,300 scholarships to 15 students this Fall.
The nine-month program gives students hands-on experience doing customers' nails, hair, and skincare, preparing them for the state board exam.
In exchange for the scholarship, students will be required to assist with marketing and promotional events for the school.
"There's a need for this and this industry. We have a lot of people who work at home and their not licensed.
So what I want to do is get them out of their home and get them into a program so they can do it the right way," said Takenya Jordan, owner.
Students have until September 11 to apply for the scholarships.
The school will be accepting students on a rolling admission basis.
