ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

One non-profit organization is offering a helping hand in the fight against hunger here in South Georgia.

Members of Advancing Georgia's Leaders in Agriculture and Forestry volunteered at Second Harvest of South Georgia. They learned that in our region of the state, one of every three children does not know where their next meal will come from.

So as a part of the group's mission to become community leaders, they helped load canned foods and other nonperishable food items into these boxes to help families in need.

"Today is about, you don't necessarily have to shoot for the moon.  You can just get out in your local neighborhood.  Just giving your time is a way to be a leader in the community," said Jeff Jordan F&W Forestry Services.

The 360 boxes they filled today will all be distributed throughout Second Harvest's partner agencies in Albany.
