ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

Girls Inc. of Albany is now taking applications for it's after-school program.

Young girls ages six to 18 can register.

The organization picks up from all Dougherty County schools, provides free meals and offers homework assistance.

Girls Inc. Interim Executive Director Wilena McClain said that it's very important for girls to have an outlet after school.

"We've encouraged girls to pursue higher education as well as we've offered enrichment programs to graduate every girl that has entered our center," said McClain.

The program costs $70 per month, there are 75 slots available, and so far 40 girls have registered.
