ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

Gas prices are on a steady decline in south Georgia.

Right now the average price for a gallon of unleaded gas in the state is $1.97.

In Albany drivers can get it for as low as $1.84.

In Sylvester, the cheapest price is a $1.93 and in Moultrie, it's as low as $1.86.

Consumers said that the low prices are especially helpful for long trips.

"I'm in the military, so driving back and forth from here and up the state down in Florida, and stuff like that, it really does make a difference when I'm planning longer trips with the gas prices now. It helps out a lot especially when they're lower like they are right now," said consumer Travis Goodson.

The Lundberg Survey reported that prices may have bottomed out, signaling an end to the decline.
