ALBANY, GA (WALB) - A former Albany State graduate is in Rio coaching an Olympic swimmer from Haiti.
Tommy Jackson grew up in Moultrie where he was a diver. He's now coaching the first female from Haiti to be on an Olympic team.
Jackson attended Albany State University. That's where Coach Wilburn Campbell developed him into a swimmer as well.
Campbell says he was always a serious swimmer.
"He was a very serious young man, both in his swimming and his commitment to swimming as well as being what I would call a student of swimming," said Campbell.
Jackson has been texting his former coach from Rio. He tells him it's been a dream come true.
