ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Larry Thomas leaves next Thursday for a week in Rio. His daughter got him and a friend six tickets to the track and field and diving events.
He says he does worry about terrorism and the Zika virus but it's not stopping him. Thomas plans on packing lots of long shirts and pants to avoid mosquitoes, and he'll be on high alert at all times.
Despite his fears, he's ready for the lifetime experience.
"You can't have fear about being able to travel. Not just here in America but abroad as well. You have to be able to let people know that you have to keep moving in life and that's what we are trying to do. We are trying to go and have a good time and support America and just enjoy Rio," said Thomas.
Thomas is a big sports fan. He was able to go to the Olympics in Atlanta in 1996, and looks forward to going again.
