DOUGHERTY CO., GA (WALB) - Rumors about Southside Middle School closing in January are not true.
A spokesperson for the Dougherty County school system said there have been some confusion with the opening of the college and career academy.
The career academy will be moving into a small wing of the school.
Those hallways have already been sealed off and are not being used right now.
When the program starts in January Southside Middle school will continue.
No changes will be made this year.
"Anytime we close a school or we move students somewhere we will be having massive public outreach so we will make sure that anybody who is enrolled in their school, all of their parents will know what is going on," said DCSS spokesperson J.D. Sumner.
The school board is looking to possibly renovate the school itself in the future.
Administrators are asking parents to only enroll their children in another school if they are moving.
