MOULTRIE, GA (WALB) -

A gold-medal gymnast coached some fortunate young Olympic hopefuls in South Georgia today.

Lilia Podkopayeva has been working with kids at the Moultrie Y-M-C-A since Monday.

You might remember her from the 1996 Olympic games in Atlanta, she was the all around gymnastics champ.

She travels the world coaching and speaking.

"I am sure they all want to be in the Olympics and they all want to be winners. And its a very good thing, to push you toward that. But, not everyone is going to be good at that, and that is ok, you have to be a winner in your own way, in different ways," said Lilia Podkopayeva.

Her advice for someone serious about competing in the Olympics.

She said an athlete has to dedicate herself completely to the sport, remembering it is only for a short time, and there is life after sports.
