ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

The Albany Police Department is sending out a warning about scam calls from someone claiming to be an Albany Police detective or an IRS agent.

Officials warned about the scam calls on the Albany Police Facebook page.

Some are happening in other states.

Police said the caller is using a blocked number, and claims to be an Albany Police detective.

The caller then tells people they have an arrest warrant for petty larceny filed against them.

Police said that other calls coming from an Albany phone number has a caller claiming to be from the IRS.

Authorities are warning people to ignore these scam calls.
