TIFT CO., GA (WALB) - A number of Tift County students started the school year with a grand welcome.
Community members gathered at Matt Wilson Elementary School to cheer on students as they returned from summer break.
Students smiled as they arrived at school and gave high-fives to all sorts of professionals.
Those who attended wore their work uniforms or professional attire to inspire the students.
The school's principal Jason Clark said the welcome was something that was needed.
"It inspires them. They get a chance to see people, that they see every single day, here at the school and motivating them to have a great year. A lot of times in school, you only get the chance to see the teachers, but sometimes we need to bring in our community members," Clark said.
The school system hopes to have more of these welcomes in the future.
