ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Dougherty County Emergency Medical Service earns an honor from state hospital organizations. It was presented the 2016 Care Of Excellence Award by the Georgia Hospital Association and the State Office of Rural Health.
The award was for their implementation and use of STEMI technology, which transmits EKG readings from the ambulance to hospital for early diagnosis.
Dougherty County EMS Training Director Richard Roberts said "As soon as we can address that. Get them to the cath lab and get a stint put in, the better results the patients going to have."
The Dougherty County EMS received a plaque and a check with their state award.
