ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

A motivational Summer jam was held at Albany's Hilton Garden Inn Thursday night.

Albany native and former college and pro indoor football player Rodriquez Thomas is now a motivational speaker.

He formed an organization called "Our Kids Our future." His event provided food, prizes, entertainment and inspiration to kids.

"It's ownership, and not singling out my child but ours." said Rodriquez. "And the whole purpose of our kids our  future is to bring back the the purpose into that village mentality of raising a child and not just doing it by yourself, but doing it as a collective group."

Kids walked away with a message of empowerment to go with free gift baskets, bikes and televisions.
