ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

The Dougherty County Coroner Micheal Fowler has confirmed that a woman died from heat related issues on Monday.

According to Fowler, Jerusha Weekly, 41, was walking outside Sunday when she collapsed in the 500 block of Madison Street.

A male friend of Weekly took her to Phoebe Sunday evening, where it was discovered she had a temperature of 109.

Health officials worked from Sunday evening to Monday afternoon to bring down her temperature, but were unsuccessful.

Weekly has no known relatives in the area, but her mother was informed of her passing.

Fowler said it was the first reported heat related death in the county.
