ALBANY, GA (WALB) -
An Albany hair salon owner led an effort to help Dougherty County students get ready for the first day of school.
Lisa Moore and her stylists at Totally Together Hair and Nail will donate free haircuts to young students in need next week and Miracle Barber Shop joined in.
100 kids were lined up for free haircuts.
"When kids get ready to go back to school, it's a big thing. Bullying is such a big thing. And we want the kids to look really good when they go back to school. So we have an expertise we can use to be a part of helping them," said Lisa Moore, owner of Totally Together Hair Salon.
Moore said several other businesses are also helping.
All the appointments for free haircuts are full, but she is taking donations for school supplies to give to students in need.
Those who would like to make a donation can drop it off at her salon at 1115 Whispering Pines Road.
The supplies, hairstyles and haircuts will only be offered for students K through 5 and will be given out on Monday August 1.
