EARLY CO., GA (WALB) - South Georgia school systems are going over Georgia Milestones test scores released this week.
In Early County elementary students are at or above average but the system as a whole lags behind state averages.
The superintendent said scores are not as high as they want them to be.
A full time English curriculum coordinator will start this year with hopes to raise scores.
"We're definitely looking at the data. We are pulling the scores. They will be getting breakdowns of the domains where their students aren't performing as expected. They will be working on those to increase those scores in those areas," said superintendent Bronwyn Ragan-Martin.
The system also is planning workshops so teachers who excel can help those who may be struggling.
Early County students go back to school on Friday.
