ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Wednesday marked the 20th anniversary of the 1996 Olympic Park Bombing.
The explosion killed Alice Hawthorne, 44, of Albany. At the time, she was the campaign manager for State Representative Winfred Dukes.
He's was at the Democratic Convention, but said that Hawthorne was a dedicated public servant.
"She was such a vibrant person, she had so much to give. And unfortunately the Olympics will always be in my mind will always be marked by her death," said Dukes.
Hawthorne's daughter, Fallon Stubbs, was wounded in the attack.
They were at the Olympics celebrating Fallon's 14th birthday.
