CORDELE, GA (WALB) -

Cordele Police arrested a suspect in connection with an armed robbery at King Tuts Jewelry.

Authorities identified the suspect as Ross Brooks, 37, of Cordele. He faces charges of Armed Robbery, Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon, and Possession of a Firearm during the Commission of a Crime.

Police received a call around 4 p.m. Wednesday that shots were fired at 401 E 16th Ave, and after a brief chase had the man they believe to be the robber in handcuffs.

"It was the sheriff who spotted the man jumping the railroad tracks," said Jeremy Taylor of the Cordele Police Department. "And once he called that out, there was probably eight to ten units within a half block of the suspect so we had him pretty much contained."

Brooks matched the description, and was found with bracelets and anklets believed to be taken from the store.

Police are investigating whether or not shots were fired in the store and said that no one was injured.
