THOMAS CO., GA (WALB) - Homeowners on Jane's Lane in Thomas County attended the county commission meeting Tuesday night to protest a dirt pit project behind their homes.
The Scruggs Company purchased 60-acres for the project that could last ten years.
Residents protesting the project filled the commission chambers.
A dirt pit project by the Scruggs Company could last as long as a decade and that is something homeowners on Jane's Lane are not happy about.
They said the project will decrease their property values by 30 percent and that they fear the project will eventually turn into something bigger.
County leaders said if the company plans on doing anything else with the land they will have to go through the commission first.
As for residents, they collected over 100 signatures on a petition that presented to the commission Tuesday night.
