TURNER CO., GA (WALB) -

A Turner County deputy got a pleasant surprise from a total stranger and his post about the encounter is getting a lot of attention on social media.

A quick stop at the Zaxby's in Ashburn on Sunday left Turner County Deputy Justin Partain with a sweet story to tell. And he even shared it on his Facebook page.

"Ms. Mikell come up behind me as I was getting my wallet out to pay for the food she stood in front of me and handing the clerk, the cashier her debit card and told me she wanted to pay for my meal," explained Partain. "She said the law enforcement was going through enough tough times and just wanted to show her appreciation for law enforcement."

Partain was grabbing lunch with co-workers, and never expected he would leave with more than just a meal.

"I was humbled by it, I really was. It was a good feeling," said Partain.

Partain has experienced generosity from residents in Turner County, but nothing like this.

"I've had plenty of people come up and shake my hand and thank me for my service," said Partain.

Partain said that Mikell is from Florida and was simply passing through on the Interstate when she decided to stop for food.

Mikell's kind gesture had a domino effect on others.

"As I was sitting there enjoying my meal with my fellow co-workers a couple more deputies, there was a young boy come up and shook our hands and thanked us for our service," explained Partain. "But nothing like this nothing like coming up and paying for our food."

Partain said that there's been a lot of negativity lately, so kind gestures like that shouldn't go unnoticed.

His Facebook post has been shared more than one hundred times.

In the comments of the post, Mikell wrote, "My pleasure please be safe out there."

Tammy Bell Partain, the deputy's mother, expressed her appreciation in the comments as well.

"From one mother to another...thank you so much Ms Mikell for the kindness you have shown my son today. I have prayed many prayers for protection on Justin. This is confirmation to me that God is sending others to watch over him when his mama can't be there to do it. may the Lord richly bless you in the days to come!" she said.
