ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

An investigation by the Georgia Department of Agriculture ended with an Albany Family Dollar shutting down.

According to officials, the investigation in the store in the 200 block of Oglethorpe Blvd. was launched on Tuesday after there was a complaint of rodents in the store at the Shackleford Shopping Center.

Chief Communications Officer Julie McPeak said that they found activity or damage to food in the pets food area.

The manager then voluntarily shut down down the entire store.

Officials said that the investigation is ongoing.

When asked about the incident, Family Dollar released this statement:

Thank you for your interest in Family Dollar.

Our new store, located at 301 E. Oglethorpe Blvd, is slated to open on August 30.

I am waiting for information from our store operations team regarding our 245 West Oglethorpe Blvd.  store. Once I receive that information, I will get back to you.
