ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Dougherty County School leaders want to educate you on an important proposed constitutional amendment.
The Opportunity School District Amendment would allow the state to take over failing schools, up to 20 per year around the state.
Four schools in Dougherty County are at risk of being run by the state.
"Parents play a part in this and good administrators. And so we're looking for the best teachers, the best administrators to move this system forward," said Dougherty County School Board Member Dr. Dean Phinazee.
The school system will hold a town hall on the proposal Saturday at 10 a.m. at Dougherty High.
The amendment will be on the November 8th general election ballot.
