ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

The Albany Civil Rights Institute hosted a panel of community leaders to discuss race relations on Thursday.

Director Frank Wilson said the conversation is important to create racial harmony in our community.

He hopes it helps people see others as individuals not based on their race.

"I think when you know each other better you can create understanding. Get rid of some of the myths, get ride of some of the stereotypes and really begin to truly know one another as human beings," said ACRI Director Frank Wilson.

" I think we've got to always remember that it's made up of many parts and we've all got to work together to make sure Albany continues what's been a great period of time for us for the last 25-30 years and we want to continue that," said panelist Bobby McKinney.

Beyond Race forum was part of the institute's monthly community night series.
