THOMASVILLE, GA (WALB) -

The Thomasville Fire Department is celebrating one of their own.

For the second time Jasmine Rice is making history in Thomasville.

She is now the first female to ever receive the rank of Engineer in the department.

In 2013 she was the first African American female to ever be hired.

Jasmine grew up in the fire service, her dad who is now retired, was the chief of the Valdosta Fire department.
